City and elected officials broke ground Tuesday for a new Tractor Supply store expected to open in mid-2026. The store will sit on U.S. Highway 95, between Smith Supply Company and Mixology.

Tractor Supply will be the first tenant in the Smithville Industrial Park, a 69-acre site off Highway 95 across from Smithville Municipal Airport. The Smithville City Council approved a replat of the property in August, paving the way for the park’s first occupant.
The area is zoned for industrial and the developer, Domain Industries, has two sites to fill. Back in 2013 the city spent $1.3 million, along with a $1 million grant, to run water and wastewater lines to the site, which could help accommodate commercial, retail, or a hotel.
At its October meeting, the council agreed to spend $150,000 of the $158,000 in interest earned on the fiscal 2023 tax note to extend sewer and water lines that will serve the Tractor Supply store.
“Truthfully, where all this is happening, I believe there’s going to be a chance for other economic growth and development that will spin off from it,” Council Member Jimmy Jenkins said at the Oct. 14 meeting. “This is just going to make it so those folks farther down by Mixology — that open piece in there — we might be able to work some annexation out of all this.”
Smithville Texas News reached out to the City of Smithville for a statement on the new development. We did not get anything back by press time.
